Beijing, September 2025 – In a step that reflects the future vision of Nama Water Services and its commitment to placing national talent at the heart of institutional development, the company signed a cooperation agreement with Chinese Company (HCIG). The agreement entails the implementation of a pioneering training program, notable for its breadth and strategic dimension, targeting the training of 100 employees across various levels. The program will cover multiple fields including project execution, engineering design, planning, and the use of advanced technologies that are no longer mere tools, but true partners in creating sustainable solutions that keep pace with the challenges of implementing and managing projects. Additional areas of cooperation will also be agreed upon between the two parties.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Nama Water Services by Qais bin Saud Al Zakwani, Chief Executive Officer.

HCIG reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Oman’s efforts to enhance Omanisation, noting that it will work to increase the participation of Omani talent in both current and future projects. This commitment reflects the company’s dedication to ensuring that the outcomes of this cooperation deliver a tangible and sustainable impact on the local labor market, as Omanisation is a national pathway to reinforcing the role of local talent in every vital project. This comes at a time when Omanisation rates at Nama Water Services have crossed 99%, underscoring the company’s success in relying on national talent and empowering them to lead strategic projects.

Commenting on the agreement, the CEO, Qais bin Saud Al Zakwani said:

“This initiative reflects Nama Water Services’ commitment to recognizing the Omani employee as the compass that drives change and the foundation of every sustainable achievement. The employee is the principal driver of institutional progress, and investment in human capital precedes any other investment. This memorandum is part of the company’s strategic direction to build national capabilities and refine the skills of Omani talent, who represent the solid foundation of the water sector’s strategic projects.”

He further emphasized that this memorandum falls within the continuous efforts to achieve the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which underscores the importance of developing national human resources and enabling them to drive the wheel of development across various sectors. The agreement also supports Omanisation programs by empowering local talent in current and future projects, offering them the opportunity to benefit from advanced international experiences and apply them within the Sultanate.

Al Zakwani added:

“The signing of this memorandum marks an important milestone in the company’s journey and embodies its role in developing the national human capital. We have a vision that employees are the foundation of every achievement, and empowering them with global expertise and knowledge is the path to ensuring sustainable water services and enhancing the sector’s ability to keep pace with rapid changes. Through this cooperation, we will provide our employees with an integrated professional experience that enriches their skills and opens wider horizons to learn from the latest global practices in project management, engineering, and technology.”

As part of the agreement, both parties also agreed to increase Omanisation rates in the various projects currently being implemented by HCIG in Oman as well as future projects, thereby ensuring greater opportunities for young Omanis seeking employment and strengthening the presence of national talent in both field and administrative roles.

In this regard, Eng. Abdullah bin Salem Al Rasbi, Chief Projects at Nama Water Services, explained that this step represents a practical commitment to providing new job opportunities and empowering Omani talent, giving them the chance to acquire advanced expertise through direct participation in strategic projects. “This will help prepare a new generation capable and well-equipped to contribute effectively to the future of Oman’s water sector,” he said.

Eng. Al Rasbi added:

“The agreement to train 100 employees will also open opportunities for Nama Water Services’ staff to explore the latest advanced technologies in project execution and management, including digital engineering design systems, advanced planning tools, and smart project management solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce water losses, and ensure sustainability of resources. Combining human capital empowerment with modern technologies will constitute a significant leap in strengthening Nama Water Services’ ability to deliver modern services that meet national aspirations and global standards in the water sector.”
