Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company
S.A.O.C. (the "Company") is a closed joint-stock company, registered
under the laws of the Sultanate of Oman. The Company was established on 21 June
2003, as “Oman Wastewater Services Company S.A.O.C”, and was granted concession
rights by the Government of Oman through Royal Decree No. 69/2005 on 13 July
2005. Under this decree, the Company became responsible for the operation and
management of the wastewater sector in the Governorate of Muscat.
In 2014, the Government expanded the Company’s
mandate to include the operation and management of the wastewater sector across
the entire Sultanate, except for the Dhofar Governorate.
On 9 December 2020, Royal Decree No. 131/2020
restructured the water and wastewater sector. As a result, all assets, records,
rights, and obligations of the former Public Authority for Water were
transferred to the Company. The decree also designated the Company as the sole
entity responsible for water distribution and wastewater services across all
governorates of Oman, except Dhofar, leading to the dissolution of the Public
Authority for Water.
In May 2021, the Company was renamed as Oman
Water and Wastewater Services Company S.A.O.C., operating currently under the
trade name “Nama Water Services”.
On 8 October 2023, following the issuance of
Royal Decree No. 40/2023 regulating the water and wastewater sector, the
Company was officially granted a license by the Authority for Public Services
Regulation (APSR).
Nama Water
Services is a subsidiary of Electricity Holding Company S.A.O.C. (Nama Group).
