Nama Water Services Earns ISO 27001 Certification for Information Security Management

Muscat – Nama Water Services has been awarded the prestigious ISO 27001 certification for Information Security Management Systems — the world’s leading standard for managing information security and associated risks. This milestone marks another achievement in the company’s distinguished record of excellence and global recognition.

The certification follows a year-long process of rigorous evaluation, internal audits, and an external assessment by the certifying authority. The authority commended Nama Water Services for its strict compliance with international standards and its strong commitment to adopting best practices in information security management.

Eng. Ahmed bin Rashid Al-Khamisi, Chief Executive Officer of Business Assurance and Excellence at Nama Water Services, said the certification goes beyond technical recognition.
“It represents a strategic step that reinforces the company’s leadership in adopting quality and excellence standards,” he said. “The ISO 27001 certification builds an integrated system for managing information security, covering policies, procedures, and technologies to protect both digital assets such as software and data, and physical assets like equipment and facilities.”

Al-Khamisi added that this recognition strengthens trust among partners and customers by ensuring data protection and service continuity.
“It reflects our commitment to safeguarding customer interests and strengthening confidence in the infrastructure of this vital sector,” he explained. “At a national level, this achievement supports Oman’s digital transformation and cybersecurity efforts, especially as the water sector remains essential to sustainable development and the well-being of citizens.”

He further noted that the certification enhances the company’s commitment to risk management, awareness, and emergency readiness. “It allows us to identify and address potential security risks, adopt preventive measures, and respond effectively to emergencies,” he said.

Yousif Al Harrasi, Information Management System Manager, said that implementing ISO 27001 is not only about compliance but also about cultivating a strong internal culture.
“The system increases employee awareness of data protection, encourages responsible behavior, and strengthens accountability across all levels,” he said. “It has a positive impact on overall performance and operational efficiency.”

Al Harrasi added that ISO 27001 provides a comprehensive framework for risk management and strategic decision-making.
“It demonstrates Nama Water Services’ commitment to continuous improvement and its ability to ensure business continuity amid the growing challenges of digital transformation,” he noted.

This new certification adds to Nama Water Services’ list of international accreditations, including ISO 9001 for Quality Management, ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management, and ISO 17025 for Laboratory Quality Management.

Together, these certifications highlight Nama Water Services’ integrated approach to excellence and its dedication to delivering services that meet the highest global standards.

Through this milestone, Nama Water Services reaffirms its commitment to continuous improvement, quality, and information security — strengthening its role as a regional leader in the water sector and a key contributor to Oman Vision 2040 and the Sultanate’s sustainable development goals.
